Opiates/Fentanyl/Heroin/Experience/For the curious: most people have no idea this song has to do with opiates. It's a very poetic outlook on addiction. I have listened to this song for years, and it means a lot to me. I've broken it into pieces and understand nearly every bit. Some of it is personal to Eyedea and can't be dissected, though, and what's funny is I usually don't feel the need to do this with lyrics. I used heroin when it was still a thing and got mixed up with fentanyl as it was just gaining traction in the US. I used it a little, and my plug warned me about the strength since I planned on banging it rather than snorting it. Fentanyl is a cheap and highly potent synthetic opioid that was initially developed for legitimate medical use. However, it started being illicitly manufactured, mainly in China, and then distributed by Mexican cartels. Its potency is staggering-50 to 100 times stronger than morphine-and even a tiny amount can be deadly. The rise of fentanyl has dramatically worsened the opioid crisis, causing a massive increase in overdose deaths across the country. The danger lies in its high potency, making it easy to overdose with just a tiny amount, and you don't know what you're going to get. Two factors to consider, the potency is questionable, and when you are jonesing for it, you tend to bang it all at once rather than just injecting tiny increments to see how you feel. That's how I did H. I would still act like I knew what I was doing, even if I understood the dosage from taking it prior. I had some scares. And let me be clear, nobody who's hooked on opiates is psyched to be. You behave selfishly and do selfish, immoral things to get it, but it's not because you want to. And your desire to do this is equatible to being starved and doing anything for food. It's an uncontrollable obsession. Hopefully, that will help anyone or two who is interested in reading this but isn't familiar with the problem. I graduated from college and grew up with a loving family, but I am bipolar and tend to obsess easily over things that instantly make me feel better physically. I cannot naturally avoid instant gratification. Suboxone helps those who need it immensely, so don't immediately dismiss it as a negative. It's a lifesaver. Seek help.
